Hi there! I’m Tomoko. I’m Japanese and live in Malaysia with my husband and baby daughter. Baking has always been my passion since I was young, and I believe this was an influence from my mother who loved to cook and bake. I remember helping her in the kitchen when I was still a toddler. In junior high I joined the cooking club and later became the club’s president! I have continuously baked in the meantime and in 2009 I graduated from Cafe’s Kitchen, a pioneer and one of the most established cafe business schools in Tokyo, Japan. I am a Japanese trained patisserie and I also hold certificates in coffee making and have various experience in tea making.
In order to pursue my dream, I am setting up a shop called Caramel Factory here in Malaysia. At Caramel Factory, I will be teaching French and Japanese influenced pastries as well as coffee and tea making. I will also be taking orders and selling some pastries in the near future. Caramel Factory’s goal is to let others experience the joy of baking in an intimate and cozy setting. Imagine a quaint Tokyo cafe right here in our shop!

What a wonderful blog you have here! I’m going to add you into my Google reader 🙂
P/S: Hanae is a big girl already since I last saw her during chinese new year, so pretty!!!!
Thanks a lot Paik Ling!!! Hope my blog makes you happy~!
Hello! Your blog is lovely – your baking creations look soooo YUMMY. Which part of Malaysia are you in? My family and i moved to Perth (Australia) a few years ago (we’re from Malaysia). My little girl was born here last March.
Anyway, I look forward to updates on your blog. Gambate! 🙂
Hi Anna! Thanks for your message and so sorry for my late reply! I live in Shah Alam^^. You moved to Perth? Sounds great! How is the life there? You are newly mother, too! Must be busy taking care of your baby daughter. My daughter is going to be 9 months old so we seem to have lots of things to talk about!
I’ll be posting my blog more frequently (hopefully…^^) so look forward to talking to you soon! Thanks!
Hi Tomoko! 🙂 The lifestyle in Perth is so very different to KL. I was in KL for a short holiday with my daughter in July this year (she was 15mths old then). So glad to hear that you are setting up a shop – all the lovely goodies you will have available, and the classes you’ll be conducting sounds so exciting. Hanae looks soooooo adorable. Babies grow up so fast – my little Isabelle is so cheeky now, and a handful but she is such an affectionate child and I feel very blessed. Best of luck with your new business venture! ^^ I’ll check in for new updates on your blog every so often.
Tomoko, Hajimemashite. I came accross your blog from Adrine. You have such a wonderful blog. I wish to attend your class too but unfortunately I’m too far away.

Hi Ms Tomoko, I’m really envious of you! (Baking as a passion and a career, your own shop) ^_^ I’m currently deciding if I should proceed on with my university studies in a baking school.. Just curious, are there any international baking schools in Japan? I’m currently studying the Japanese language in Singapore and have always wanted to head over to Japan to visit! The thought of just staying there to study is already making me excited XD! But I’m curious about the study costs and living expenses over there though.. :X
Hi En Qi,
Thanks for your comment and sorry for my late reply! As you know, a lot of Japanese don’t speak English and I don’t think we have baking school held in English in Japan. Too bad! We have Coldon Blue, but even that school is all in Japanese or French… Do you live in Malaysia now?
I’m living in singapore! 🙂

Hi Kogi, thanks for your message & you called me yesterday right? I will email you shortly. Thanks! Tomoko
Seem like I want to go to your baking class. I want to learn how to bake cake for my mom.
I live in san francisco.. and am about to graduate university with five years of food service and french. I was wondering if your school is a training program/school instead of just a one day workshop. I really want to open a Japanese Bakery in San Francisco
Hi Judy,
Thanks for your comments! Very exciting to hear from you. Right now my school is more like a one day thing where students enjoy baking for their hobbies. Hope I can make my school a bigger scale in future, haha, but for your purpose it might not be suitable. Anyway, thanks a lot for dropping message!
Tomoko
Hello,
I am a muslim girl. I would like to know if you do use halal ingredients in your baking. Care to share your experiences and challenges when you were facing throughout your journey of setting up this shop from the beginning till you have setted up this shop?
Thank you. Looking forward to your reply! 🙂
Hi Aida,
Thanks for your comment. Yes, I do have many limits but since I get all the ingredients from halal supplier, it’s been okay for me to control the materials. Thanks!
Regards,
Tomoko
Hi Tomoko, do you supply cake to restaurant?
Hi Mei Yien,

I would like to know the fees
Hi,
The fee is stated together with each class schedule. Tks!
Could you please send to my email about the fees and class timetable, so that I can arrange my time well. Thanks.
Hi tomoko
Do you have classes that only teaches macaron making? Other than the master class for coffee and macaron?
I’ve tried making my own and failed 6 times using different recipe and different method. But everytime when I see the pretty pictures of macaron I still feel like making them but when it failed it feels so sad. Really hope that you have classes that only cater for macarons
Hope to hear from you soon
